Safety tips for Travellers to India

Welcome to everybody visiting this site, this site is exclusively designed for providing the information on "Travel - Safety" to all foreign tourists visiting India. Recent rape, killing and abusing incidents have very adversely affected the image of INDIA as a tourist destination.

This site is dedicated to provide the safety tips to people who love the Modern India as well as the history of India and want to travel India. I am providing a few tips for it and I also encourage all the Indians as well as non - Indians (or shall I say India-lovers) to provide more safety tips based on their own experiences and views.
So, all who visit India as tourist must follow following tips for their own safety during the stay in India:
1) Please keep it informed to all those who are nearest to you that you are traveling to India for the particular period.
2) Those who stay in India for more then a month and at different places, must keep in touch with their friends or families and keep informing your current place & duration of stay.
3) If any body takes any place on rent for a longer period, then ensure that your staying at a house owned not by a single person, but select a family as your land lords.
4) One of the most important tip: Females must avoid traveling single to India.
5) Don't trust any Taxi, Cab, Auto or Rickshaw Driver to take you to any Hotel, Tourist place etc. Always hire such services through the Hotel in which you are staying.
6) Even if you hire such services on your own, always inform your Hotel Reception about which place you are visiting and the tentative time of your return.
7) Don't book any Air, Train or Bus Tickets from the single Agents loitering around the Reservation Counters. For such bookings always take the services of your Hotel. All the Hotels in India provide such service on their own or through their authorised Travel Agents.
8) While travelling by any mode, always keep an eye on your luggage and use pad locks in trains.
9) Don't put your bags down unless you are going to sit on them or lock them up.
10) Don't put your traveler's checks in your bags. Be careful about your Valet and other valuables.
11) Do check out vaccination requirements before travel. Carry vaccination certificates with you. This is mandatory if you are coming from or arriving via a Yellow Fever infected region.
12) Come prepared for delays, especially while flying in north India during winters. Smog envelops cities and take-offs are impossible sometimes for hours.
13) Beware of Pickpocket – especially at crowded haunts like airports, railway station or even some popular markets and tourist spots. Wear an inner money belt.

I will keep adding such points time to time and I really encourage all of you to help me in his mission of making INDIA as "HEAVEN FOR TOURISTS" or "GOD'S OWN PLEASURE DESTINATION".
